This was the first show I attended of The Go-Go’s Farewell Tour in 2016. I was not originally planning to shoot their penultimate show, but once the concert started, I wanted to at least document it for posterity. Shot on the Nikon D4s with the 70-200mm F2.8 on August 28, 2016 with post processing and conversion in Nikon Capture NX-D and PS.
Belinda Carlisle at The Paramount, Peekskill, N.Y.
It has been awhile since the last entry and we pick up where we left off – with Belinda Carlisle, only this time at The Paramount in Peekskill, N.Y. on April 13th, 2016. Shot with the Nikon D4s and the stellar 200mm F2 with the majority of the shots in conjunction with the 1.4x teleconverter. Crops are pretty much straight out of the camera with minimal adjustment in LR and PS.
Belinda Carlisle at B.B. King’s, NYC
This entry is from Belinda Carlisle’s solo show at B.B. King’s in NYC on September 8th, 2015 – 12 years after she had previously played there (a show which I shot on high-speed Kodak film – those slides might make an appearance for a Throwback post). Shot with the Nikon D4s and the 200mm F2 wide open at F2 with the 1.4x teleconverter for some shots. The wide shot was taken with the 24-70mm F2.8. Raw files converted in Nikon NX-D with finishing in PS.
Belinda Carlisle at The Woodstock Fair, Woodstock, CT.
This entry consists of photos taken at Belinda Carlisle’s solo show at The Woodstock Fair on September 6th, 2015 in Woodstock, CT. Shot with a Nikon D4s and the 70-200 F2.8 with processing in Capture NX-D and final edits in PS.
BlueBonnets at The Grand Opera House, Wilmington, DE.
This set is from the series of east coast shows that The BlueBonnets played with The Waterboys this past spring. Shot at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE. on April 26th, 2015 with the Nikon D4s and the 70-200mm f2.8.
Veruca Salt – Webster Hall, NYC, 2015
A fresh set of pictures from Veruca Salt’s concert at Webster Hall, NYC on July 31st, 2015. The show was in support of their new album, “Ghost Notes”, released this July. Taken with the Sony RX 100 III point & shoot in ARW RAW and processed in LR.
From the archives – Go-Go’s at The Independent, S.F., 2007
This mega-entry goes back in time to October 5th, 2007 when The Go-Go’s played The Independent, S.F.. Shot on (now discontinued) Kodak T-Max 3200 with a Nikon F100 and 70-200mm f2.8, then scanned on a Nikon Coolscan 9000 with minor dust touch-up in PS. There have not been any digital effects added; the pictures are as they appear on the negatives. A companion color digital set exists but remains unassembled; perhaps it will come to light in the near future.
BlueBonnets at the Ridgefield Playhouse
This set is from the BlueBonnets recent east coast tour during which they opened for the Waterboys for select dates. Shot at the Ridgefield Playhouse on April 27th, 2015 with the Nikon D4s and the trusty 70-200mm f2.8 with processing in Nikon Capture NX-D and minor clean-up in PS.
Veruca Salt – Music Hall of Williamsburg – 2014
Veruca Salt fans were treated to a series of high energy concerts in 2014 featuring the original band line-up for the first time since 1997. This set is from the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn and was taken with the Sony RX-100 III point and shoot (replacing the disappointing Panasonic used on the TRL Philly set). The camera’s performance and handling in the difficult lighting conditions (low light and high dynamic range) was impressive. The photos are virtually straight out of the camera with adjustments and noise reduction in LR. Presented in the order taken with aspect ratios from the camera (vsbklyn-17 was shot at 16:9).
BlueBonnets at The Bowery Electric, NYC
This is a companion set to the Jane Lee Hooker post from the same evening on April 30th, 2015. The BlueBonnets shared the bill with JLH for a few east coast shows and this was the first show of that run. Shot with the Nikon D4s with both the 14-24mm f2.8 and the 24-70mm f2.8 and processed in Nikon Capture NX-D and PS.
