Skating Polly at The Mercury Lounge, NYC

After a run of shows opening for X, Skating Polly played The Mercury Lounge in NYC on May 31st, 2019. Here is a small selection of photos from the show. Shot with the Nikon D4s and 20-70mm f2.8 with a couple of shots with the new 70-200mm f2.8. Processed in LR and PS.

Liz Phair at Brooklyn Steel

On October 6th, 2018, Liz Phair brought her “Amps on the Lawn” tour to Brooklyn Steel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in support of the reissue of her landmark album “Exile in Guyville”. Liz Phair concerts are, unfortunately, as rare as hen’s teeth, but this one was definitely worth the wait. Liz and her band put on an energetic set in front of a sold-out house. Shot on the sly with the Sony RX100 III compact in RAW with conversion in LR and minor corrections in PS. Heres hoping it’s not another 7 years before she plays live in NYC again!

The Go-Go’s at Humphrey’s Concerts by the bay

Before the Go-Go’s began their three night set of shows at the Hollywood Bowl, they played this show at Humphrey’s in San Diego. This set of shows featured the return of Kathy Valentine (she had played earlier in the year with the band for a couple of private events). Even though Kathy was back, Gina Schock was unfortunately sidelined due to her recovery from surgery earlier in the year. Taking her place was Chris Arredondo, who in addition to being a drummer himself, has been Gina’s drum tech for the past few years. He filled in admirably and the band sounded great. This set was shot with the Nikon D4s and 70-200mm f2.8 with 1.4 TCE for some shots. The shots from the side of the stage were taken with the 24-70mm f2.8. Shot in NEF with conversion in LR and touch-up in PS.

Belinda Carlisle at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park

On August 18th, 2018, Belinda Carlisle played a full solo set at a free concert sponsored by local radio station WCBS-FM. She and her band gave a great performance to an enthusiastic audience which was not fazed by the intermittent rain (it appropriately started to rain during “Summer Rain”). I was not planning to shoot but decided to do it last-minute after meeting Belinda before the show. Shot on the Nikon D4s in NEF with the Nikkor 24-70 mm f2.8 with processing and small touch-ups in LR and PS.

The Go-Go’s at The Bowery Ballroom

On January 29th, 2018, The Go-Go’s played an abbreviated set at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC for an invitation-only event to celebrate the musical “Head Over Heels” opening on Broadway in 2018. It was the first time since 2012 that all five original members took the stage together, with Kathy Valentine rejoining the quintet on bass. Shot with the Nikon D4s and the 70-200 f2.8 with processing in Nikon Capture NX-D and minor touch-up in PS.

X at Stage 48

On September 21st, 2017, X brought their 40th Anniversary Tour to Stage 48 in NYC. The original lineup of Exene, John, Billy and DJ sounded great and put on an excellent, high energy show. Shot on the Nikon D4s with the majority of shots with the 24-70mm f2.8 and a couple with the 14-24mm f2.8. Converted In Nikon Capture with small post adjustments in PS.

Skating Polly at Stage 48

Presented here is set of photos of Skating Polly opening for X at Stage 48 in NYC. Amongst the songs performed were a set from their recent El Camino EP release “New Trick” on which they collaborated with AGN Photo favorites Nina Gordon and Louise Post. Shot with Nikon D4s and the 24-70mm f2.8 with post processing in Nikon Capture and PS.

Elettrodomestico at The Iridium

After a tour of Italy in June, Jane Wiedlin and Pietro Straccia brought their duo, Elettrodomestico, to The Iridium in NYC on August 11th, 2017, performing their upcoming release in its entirety. They played two sets, exchanging their stage outfits for the second set. Both the early and late set are included here. Shot on the Nikon D4s with the 70-200mm f2.8 with conversion in Nikon Capture and small adjustments in PS.

The Go-Go’s Farewell Show at The Greek

The following gallery is from The Go-Go’s farewell show at the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park, Hollywood on August 30th, 2016. Even though the Greek is a tough venue to shoot, I was lucky enough to be in a good spot with some cooperative fans surrounding me. A great performance that I hope is reflected in the attached gallery. Shot with the Nikon D4s and the 70-200mm f2.8 with a few of the wide shots done with the 28-70mm f2.8. Converted in Nikon Capture NX-D with small adjustments in PS.
